Subsequence Magazine Volume 3

Ten months have already passed since volume 2. With the threat of viruses sweeping the world and changing our lives, our third issue will soon be available with the same large format, but with 168 pages. A massive amount of text and a wealth of beautiful visuals to bring the world's wonderful arts, crafts, and culture within your reach.

The opening essays were written by Lang Lee (musician), Tomoka Shibasaki (writer), Fanny Singer (writer), Kyohei Sakaguchi (writer, painter, musician), Mike Abelson (director of POSTALCO) and Itsushi Kawase (visual anthropologist).

Our new special feature titled “Clothing As Memory” features Tetsu Nishiyama (director of WTAPS), Kyle Field (musician), and others, who share their memories of their private pictures.

A detailed report by Hiroki Nakamura, creative director of visvim, on his project to restore the mid-century modern home of master architect Richard Neutra in California, as well as a report on the “takekawa weaving” (bamboo weaving) that architect Bruno Taut left in Takasaki, Gunma Prefecture in Japan.

This third issue also includes a newly written short short story by Etgar Keret, author and director of the essay collection “That Wonderful Seven Years” and the film “Jellyfish.”

“Subsequence Bazaar” event will be held in conjunction with the publication of this magazine on September 18th at “visvim” (Omotesando) and “WMV VISVIM TOKYO” (Nakameguro). This is a rare opportunity to acquire the works and products of the artists, manufacturers, and craftsmen featured in this magazine.
