Split in to distinct chapters, Pineapple studies three urban environments: London, San Francisco and Seoul. These cities were chosen for their contrasting visual identities and the incredible cast of characters who have shaped their cultural landscape.
To bring these stories to life, Airbnb inserted esteemed photographers in to these communities to gain true insight and create a deep connection with their surrounding environments. The resulting visual essays are bold and rich; Jake Stangel, who has shot for Time, Monocle and cult surf magazine NEON, spent a weekend with 7 friends cycling 56 miles down the Route One towards San Francisco; fashion photographer Emma Hardy (Vogue, W Magazine) toured London’s South Bank with design duo Patternity as they explore the city not through sight, but through texture and pattern; and Kate Peters (who has work included in London’s National Portrait Gallery) journeyed through the canals and waterways of London by boat, capturing a way of life so very unique to the city.
